my dreams are in a far off land where dreamers go to die.

in my dreams, happiness is more than just a quick fix- more than just a constant search for satisfaction.
in reality, it's just a dream.

Today, I came across the site: http://www.givesmehope.com/. Naturally, as a pessimist, the "optimist" tag was a turn off.
And naturally, as a pessimist, I found myself crying after reading the first two pages.

and my little bit of optimism boosting post would not be complete without the following:
The quirky, nostalgic, melancholic, sweetness in his music caught my heart.

The only contest I have so far won (that I can remember, anyway) in my life has been in my sales class. And what did I win? A cheese knife (valued at over $50, no doubt).

Being the analyzer that I am, I decided to take a symbolic approach to the outcome.
Either:
1. I was meant to eat more cheese
2. Luck was on my side
3. My life is fully of cheesy shit which has led me to believe that I must do away with all that shit (thus the metaphor for cutting cheese).

happiness is circumstantial.

amidst my midterm studying madness, ten thousand more words to write, and endless group projects nagging at my back, I am surprisingly content.

I find comfort in knowing that I have control over my life again, despite it being dull.

boredom, for myself, is always just temporary.
and it beats being dysfunctional.

you mean more to me than I thought you did.
I just don't know if you feel the same.

update: it was all just an idee fixe.

Hector Berlioz: Symphonie Fantastique
pt. IV: March to the Scaffold
If you get the chance, listen to it all, but everyone seems to enjoy this movement.
It could be because, in his opium-induced trance, the artist gets his head chopped off. Listen for the return of the idee fixe beginning at around 4:05, before the guillotine swings.

Paint your world

Summer is beautiful.
The vibrancy of nature's colour palette creates a perpetual sense of liveliness which cannot be experienced in any other season.
Topic of the day: Colour

Okay, so I know you all know what colour is. What I actually wanted to talk about was the colour of beauty. Everyone always says, "My favourite colour is [fill in the blank]", but have you really stopped to think about what colour would you define to be the colour of beauty?
So it happens that my "favourite" colour is black. Yeah, I know it sounds like the answer a Marilyn Manson type would give, but the depth and richness of various black tones is quite intriguing.

And whilst typing this, it makes me want to go and paint a painting based on solely on the colour black.

But anyway, that was a tangent.

Something I had come across a while ago which intrigued me:
Synesthesia- (grapheme)
from the Ancient Greek σύν (syn), "together," and αἴσθησις (aisthēsis), "sensation"—a phenomenon in which stimulation of one sensory or cognitive pathway leads to automatic, involuntary experiences in a second sensory or cognitive pathway.

In other words, imagine seeing colour through sound.

As moments pass,
I lay

restless eyes,
shallow breath

fluttering under darkness
floating in a cloud
dreaming of a life I once knew.

An angel's kiss
quiet

silence

Was it all just a dream?

Whilst I was lazing the day away with Sense and Sensibility and a glass of cool lime water, I was struck with an urge to blog. As it's been a while since I've been on here, I've decided to start fresh.

If you know me well enough, you know my tendency to get serious at rather awkward times. I would probably say that this would be one such time, as the only current topic I can come up with, is the topic of truth.

It's something that has always ebbed at my thoughts- and by this I mean, it has proven rather bothersome at times.

Truth has come to be defined as being something of actuality- of reality. But what borders reality?
Is there a universal truth? If I ever discover it, I'll let you know.

quote du jour: "I would define, in brief, the poetry of words as the rhythmical creation of Beauty"

-Edgar Allan Poe
